| Membership Committee
|
Our Role The Membership Committee has two purposes:
- To attract and welcome newcomers to the church and help integrate them into the life of the church
- To foster among our membership a strong sense of ownership in the Unitarian Church of Vancouver by utilizing the skills and interests of individuals and by acknowledging and celebrating the accomplishments of individuals and groups.
The work of the committee is carried out by sub-groups, which are responsible for attracting and welcoming visitors and newcomers, for new U orientation, for integrating/retaining members, and for records management.
We appreciate hearing from members who have suggestions and comments to help us ensure that all members are involved in the life of the Unitarian Church of Vancouver.
New U in a Day Sessions These sessions are presented by a sub-group of the Membership Committee. They are intended for anyone who wants to learn more about Unitarianism and the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, and for everyone who is interested in joining our church.
There are two sessions each year, held on a Saturday from 9:30 to 2:30. "New U in a day” introduces Unitarian history and theology along with the story of our own church and a tour of the buildings and grounds. It’s a great time to get to know other newcomers and church members and to explore your own beliefs. Attendees of the New U day will be invited to join the church by signing the Membership Book during an Informational Breakfast meeting held 2 or 3 weeks later. Contact Dianne Crosbie.

| Humanist Discussion Group
|
|
The Humanist Discussion Group has been a long-term staple of church life, representing the Unitarian principle of respecting the guidance of reason and scientific results. Meetings on humanist themes are held from time to time. Watch for announcements in the Bulletin and the Sunday order of service.
